STILL LIFE

I have been drawn to the subject matter of white dishes on a white surface since I first saw the work of Italian painter Giorgio Morandi. I was a student at the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts at that time. The majority of paintings in my Dishes series were created over a two year period. I worked from direct observation using soft pastels in natural light. This helped me to see subtle nuances that create the luminescent light in the work.
